Tips

*Be careful not to help aging seniors out of impatience! Often we want to help in order to move things along faster. Of course it's courteous to carry something too heavy for them or generally make their lives easier, but allow them to do their daily activities at their own pace if it is not troublesome for them to do so. This will keep up muscle tone and mobility, fighting atrophy in small ways.

*A high protein diet is important even in older bodies! Because atrophy is inevitable as we slow down, it helps to fight these effects when our muscles have the right nutrition to feed off of.

*You can almost always use the bike! When joints ache, before or after surgery, in great shape or just getting back into it, the bike is a great instrument! The non-impact proves to be very gentle, unlike what you would encounter with running. The cyclical motion is beneficial for blood circulation and inflammation reduction. Adding resistance strengthens the leg and core muscles and works cardiovascular endurance, all while keeping you in proper ergonomic alignment.
